What age can I start Drivers Ed?
Teens can start Drivers Ed at 15 years old. However, you can start at early as 14 years old, as long as you turn 15 during the course.
How long does the course take?
Our classroom generally last between 5 and 8 weeks - depending on the class that you register for. Since you will need to complete a total of 30 classroom hours, we schedule them for two hours each session, 2-3 days a week. Click here for a list of schedules. When can I start driving?
Before we (or your parents) can get you behind the wheel for driving lessons, you will need to get a permit. In order to get a permit, you will need go to the DMV and pass a written exam. You won't be able to take the exam until you enroll into a drivers education program, so dont head to the DMV without registering with us first.
When can I get a license?
Teens can get a license once they complete our course, have held a permit for a minimum of 9 months and are at least 16 years of age.
*Illinois Law requires students to be passing a minimum of eight (8) classes in high school before they can obtain a license. We will need a copy of a recent report card on record before we can notify the Secretary of State of your completion.
*Teens need to keep a permit for at least nine (9) months before they can take the road test to obtain a license.
*In addition to the 6 hours of BTW with our school, teens need to complete 50 hours of driving with a parent. This time needs to include 10 hours of driving at night and needs to be logged.
